Back in 2013 I set some goals, big scary goals, which were super exciting. I was fresh out of high school and about to start an Honours degree in design at Massey University in Wellington. I had a plan; it was simple. I would spend the next four years completing my degree and in my final year (2016) I would start training for Coast to Coast or GODZone in 2017. I was super keen to do these races but didn’t quite know how it was going to happen. Ever since GODZone appeared I had dreamed to do it. It became the ultimate dream goal to do one day. I wasn’t even sure at the start how I was going to find a team.
A week of radiation, some pain and a little gain. Also my first eye opener into what the Spring Challenge could involve.
A swim analysis, a 10km run and radiation completes this last 2 weeks!!
After GODZone it was time to change my focus from training to recovery and studying. I had just started the first semester of the final year of my degree in Sustainability and Outdoor Education and had some work to catch up on.
Adventures and good results re the pain, a quick fix with some radiation. I'm also feeling like Im getting back into a routine with my training.
With no pain, this week was a much better week, with most training completed and completed strong.
Rain and pain, but it was all bad. A week of determination and fight was required to get through.
When standing on looking down on the port hills, you get the feeling you are way up high,
Until the towering backdrop of the Southern Alps catches your eye.
