Lisa Morrison

It’s great to be in the Team CP family again, after being a cycling skills tutor way back in the early years.  I am Christchurch based and am so pleased to have a change in direction with something that suits my lifestyle so well.  I have a long connection with the Coast to Coast, way back to watching my dad do the One Day when I was eight. I wrote a story about it at school the next week and from there I always knew I would do it too.

First-time Two-Day individual as an eighteen year old and 3 times after that, most recently in 2017. My claim to fame is winning the mixed team’s event with Mr Richard Greer himself in 2010 on an altered course which matched our strengths; Richard had to bike over 100km on day two including several nasty climbs, while I used my local knowledge to pace myself during the Avon River paddle stage.  I always knew those hours on the Avon would turn out useful at some stage!

I am suited physically and mentally to longer courses, and I have since done the One Day event in 2014, a couple of Graperide Magnums (202km each) and the Tarawera 50km running event.

During my years living in Nelson, I developed into a confident surf ski kayaker and took part in several ocean-going events, even managing to win the Queen of the Bay from Kaiteriteri to Kina beach in 2016.

I am not a racer, rather a competitor out to run my own race.  A good result for me is sticking to my nutrition plan, having fun and chatting to some people along the way! I still aspire to complete a few things to a higher standard, and I am sure that surrounding myself with motivated people like yourselves will be a great opportunity to give them a nudge.

From a career perspective, I have had a long history in outdoor adventure and bike retail & can attest to helping many a new multisporter or adventure racer to lighten their wallet somewhat. I loved helping people gather the right equipment and clothing to really get the most out of their experience.  I have also been in local government and management roles in more recent years, which I really enjoyed but always encroached on my play time.

There’s a real sense of excitement to be back into an area that I can contribute to other peoples’ development and success, however that looks for them.
