From the age of two I was able to jump out of my bedroom window and follow dad on the farm. It was safe to say then, that adventure was in my blood! My childhood was consumed by exploration of the hills and mudflats by foot and riding my old BMX around the local farms of an isolated area in Northland.
During my high school years, I discovered a passion for cycling and mountain biking. Weekends were filled with hours on the road or in the forests around the Auckland Region.
Study brought me to Canterbury, and I was soon in awe of the incredible landscape and variety of terrain on our doorstep. My first experience competing in the Coast to Coast was in 2005. I was just out of university and feeling over-weight and unfit. I teamed up with a friend and completed the mountain run and second day cycle. This was the beginning of my journey competing in a multitude of events including: Lake Tekapo Mountain Bike Pursuit, Epic Lake Hawea, Arrowsmith – Thee Ride, Grape Ride, Challenge Wanaka (team), Peak to Pub, 2 Day Individual Coast to Coast, Salmon Run Rakaia… and more!
After working in education for 12 years I am pursuing my passion for health and fitness. In October, I completed the National Certificate in Fitness and Open Polytechnic Certificate in Personal Training. My goal is to support others’ to reach new heights, to set goals and tackle the journey in order to make them a reality.
